EFCC ARRAIGNS FRAUDSTERS OVER $149,000 INTERNET DATING SCAM.

Two Nigerian Internet Fraudsters Olubode Olukotun and Olamide Adekeye have been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC at the Oyo State High Court for defrauding two foreigners of $149,000.

The duo is charged with 22-count for obtaining money from two Americans Janet and Louise Cecchni under false romance scam.
According to EFCC, the accused persons were arrested on June 14, 2011 at Borem Inn, Ibadan by operatives of the State Security service, SSS.

Adekeye, a 25-year old student of Biochemistry, Ajayi Crowther University Oyo cammed one Janet Nelson, an American lady online in a dating gambit. He met her through yahoo messenger where both started dating. He dated her using a false identity of David Donovan, a rich American. He successfully fleeced her of Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000), which she sent to him in various installments through Western Union money transfer and also through GoldExPay.

From the proceeds of the crime Adekeye bought for himself a Peugeot 407 saloon car.
On his part, 28-year old Olubode, a fresh graduate of University of Ilorin, awaiting call up to national service posed as Scott Ferguson, a Caucasian to swindle Louise Cecchni of the sum of Fifty Three Thousand dollars ($53,000) in various installments.

He obtained the money under the guise of a short loan facility, with a promise to refund his internet lover. Both signed a promissory note to that effect and she started wiring him the money through a GoldExPay account he maintained with Liberty Reserve.
From proceeds of the heist, Olubode bought an Infinity M35X 2007 model saloon car for Four million and Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N4.4million).
